Marshall Health Network recognizes National Suicide Prevention Month

Friday, September 13, 2024

Every September, Marshall Health Network (MHN) joins the national movement to raise awareness about suicide prevention and mental health.

During this time, MHN proudly partners with local and national agencies to raise awareness about suicide prevention, break the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage individuals to seek help and support without fear of judgment.

“Mental health support is much more than focusing on a diagnosis,” said Tenikka Phillips, Accelerated Resolution Trained (ART) Therapist with Cabell Huntington Hospital Counseling Center and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Coordinator. “It’s about understanding the whole person – their unique experiences and emotions - and creating plans that best meet their individual needs to help them thrive in their lives.”

Marshall Health Network offers behavioral and mental healthcare services to patents across the region through a comprehensive and compassionate team of providers.

Community members are invited to learn more about suicide prevention on Thursday, September 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cabell Huntington Hospital, St. Mary’s Medical Center, HIMG and Rivers Health. Each facility will have information tables about suicide prevention and will be staffed with mental health specialists to answer any questions.

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the United States. If you or someone you know needs immediate support, call 988.
